ASSIGNMENT1: 1 MINUTE EXPERIENCE WITH PIXEL
This piece is a reflection of the impact human beings are having on the planet. It is a metaphor of the coral reef and underwater biodiversity represented by seaweed. The plants are healthy and green at the beginning of the experience and then become yellow and brown by the end as a result of human industrial activity, global warming and rising water temperature.
The evolution of seaweed has been mapped to the length of the 1m13s water bubbles sound file playing in the background. The length and thickness of the different pieces of seaweed have also been time mapped to the soundtrack.
In the real world, as light hits the water, different shades of blue appear depending on the angle. That’s why the intensity of the blue in our sketch has been mapped to the brightness of the camera.
